Hashima
Hashima's iconic staircase, an imaginative solution to accessing floors. A lovely example of a simple design that doesn't cost any more than a boring one but is of far greater value.
One of my favourite views, I am fascinated by the textures and colours.

It is hard not to imagine that someone is watching you. There are so many windows from so many angles and with every move you make, more windows appear from hidden spaces. Most of the time that's a normal sensation you get in an abandoned place, but in some parts of Hashima, it's quite overwhelming.

I refer to this as Mainstreet. It is a principal pedestrian route that links most of the living accommodation so surely would have been a reference point for the population.
